Turning my instamemories into real life paper memories

You know how I have just been in New York? Of course you do, what am I saying, I banged on about it for weeks. Anyway, while we were there I took pictures. And some of those pictures I posted on Instagram (StuffThatIBought – look me up). And since they look so lovely, I decided I would have them printed into supercute teeny tiny little memory books.

I read about Printstagram on Fatmumslim (Chantelle is the Instagram QUEEN) and it’s such a neat idea. For $10 I got three tinybooks and you can either pick 24 photos so that all three books are the same, or 72 photos for three different books. I had about 30 NYC pics, so I picked 24 and now have three matching books – one for me, one for hubby, and one for…me. You just log in with your Instagram username and password, tick the photos you want, paypal express, and you’re done! Printstagram also have memory boxes, tees, mini prints, a slightly-bigger-but-still-mini mini book, stickers and posters, so you can turn your arty photos into all manner of cool things. It took about 2 weeks to get to me, so order with room to spare if you’re getting a gift for someone.

Fun fact: The tinybooks are magnetic, so you can put them on the fridge.

Also fun fact: Your cat isn’t magnetic, so if you put a tinybook on your cat, it will probably just fall off.

Details: Tinybooks – 3 for $10 from Printstagram + $12 postage from Printstagram

Live blog: Styletread promises delivery in under 3 hours – I order shoes to find out

I have written about Styletread before. I did that fun video back at the start of April and I showed you the rad Alias Mae studded shoes I bought just before I went on holidays (which I love love love and have been wearing every day). Last week I had lunch with the Styletread peeps (hi Matt! hi Sarah!) and they were super excited to share that 3-hour delivery is now free! Seriously, this blows my mind. I can order shoes, have them to me within 3 hours AND it’s free?! Of course, this amazing service is only for metro Sydney (just one more reason why Sydney is better) and it’s next day for the rest of Aus and NZ. Which is still a hellavalot quicker than most other shopping sites.

Styletread were nice enough to give me a voucher to try out the free 3 hour shipping so I thought I would love blog my shoes journey. Considering google maps reckons that in current traffic my shoes only have a 37 minute journey from the warehouse to me, this is likely to be a very short live blog, but let’s do this anyway.

3:13pm: Order placed. And now we wait.

3:33pm: I ordered a smashing pair of leopard print slippers and a long light grey knitted scarf. I’m going to spend the next little while mentally putting the items into outfits.

3:49pm: I just made myself a cup of tea. Camomile and spearmint. Fun fact: this is my favourite kind of tea.

4:08pm: I’m trying to concentrate and get some work done, but it’s a bit hard when you have THIS sitting on your desk.

4:27pm: Cup of tea is gone. Now what? The anticipation is killing me.

4:54pm: I’m starting to get hungry. And distracted. I need cheese. Oooh shiny things…

5:23pm: Why does time seem to go so slowly when you’re anxiously waiting for something? Also, who wants to bring me dinner?

5:27pm: Shoes have arrived!! So that’s 2 hours and 14 minutes from the time I placed my order to getting them on my feet. Seriously, that’s probably quicker service than I have experienced recently in Myer or David Jones.

So not only were my shoes here within the 3 hours as promised, but the girl I spoke to in customer service AND the delivery guy were both insanely helpful and friendly. There is something to be said for excellent customer service, and that is “it’s good”. It’s interesting that I can get much better service and value from a website than I can from a bricks-and-mortar store. Shoes were always something I felt funny about ordering online, but Styletread has changed my mind.

Thanks for the voucher Styletread, much appreciated. Funnily enough, as I was waiting for my order to arrive I got an email from a company who I have used in the past to run ads on my blogs – they were sending a new $10 voucher code for Styletread. Code is FASHION75884 and it is valid until 31st July 2012 midnight with a minimum order amount pre discount of $69.95 AUD. Use it in good health.

Try! Score! Other sporting word! It’s Allen’s State of Origin Lollies!

Allen's State of Origin limited edition lollies

Let’s be honest, I don’t give a rats arse about the State of Origin. Or any kind of NRL for that matter. Nay, any sort of football, full stop.

What I can get behind though is the new little State of Origin Allen’s lollies I came across in Coles yesterday. They were $2 a bag and apparently exclusive to Coles. The little jellies are rugby jersey shaped and either maroon or blue – something to do with some sort of interstate sporting competition? Whatevs. They tasted really yum – raspberry and blackberry. Now this is sport I can get behind.

Allen’s Limited Edition Mad About Maroon & Blues lollies – $2 from Coles - You don’t need to understand or even like football to appreciate these bad boys!

Disclosure: purchased and consumed by me. Consumed a little too quickly, if we’re being honest.

Avoid dry aeroplane skin: Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Face Cream & Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+

Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ and Ultra Hydrating Face Cream

Whoa. Hello, jetlag. Not too pleased to find you here. What did I expect though, really? 14 hour time differences and almost 24 hours of travelling will do that to a person.

Gotta say though, considering how craptacular I feel, my skin is in amazing condition. Although there was a whole arsenal that contributed to this positive outcome, the charge was led by two hero products – Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ and Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Face Cream.

Rosehip Oil is like a giant no duh when you’re travelling. I religiously put rosehip oil on every two hours when I’m flying long haul, interspersed with sprays of hydrating rosewater mist (I like Jurlique or Kosmea for this). This new Antioxidant+ formula of rosehip oil is like rosehip oil on steroids – hydrating as well as fighting off damage – perfect for combating the nasty effects of filtered aeroplane air.

Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Face Cream only landed on my desk two days before I embarked on my adventure and holy hell I want to kiss the PR who sent it to me because it SAVED MY SKIN. The air in New York was drier than a nuns coochie and this beautiful, delicious, very hydrating cream stopped it from shrivelling up and flaking off. BONUS POINTS – it has lavender in it, so it helped calm me down and keep me relaxed on the plane (that, and the valium). I can just tell this cream and I are going to be besties this winter.

If you’re flying in the near future (or just dread winter like I do), I highly recommend you head to Priceline and grab these two. PS – the face cream tube is bigger than you’re allowed to take on the plane, so you’ll need to decant a small amount into a container. Worth it.

Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ – $29.95 for 30ml
Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Face Cream – $37.95 for 75ml
Both from Priceline or Myer

These products were offered to Stuff That I Bought in accordance with our disclosure policy. They are both 100 kinds of awesome, so all reviews are truthful and uninfluenced.
