I completely agree about waiting a week or two before the honeymoon.
I had a two week gap between my wedding and honeymoon and so glad I did... it meant I was able to finish a few things up at work after the wedding rather than trying to get it all done before the wedding.
We were able to catch up with friends and family, catch up on sleep and we did not have to worry about packing for wedding (as we got married in hubs hometown of Mudgee) and the honeymoon in the lead up to the big day.
I too had some alternative footwear for the evening... thank goodness!
