Happy Birthday!

What do you think? Nice, huh. This makeover was in honour of my fourth birthday AND this is my 500th post. 500! What the heck have I crapped on about for the last 4 years?!

Well, I’m giving you a chance to figure it out…

I have four amazing prize packs jammed full of all my favourite products that I have reviewed over the years, like Pantene Aqua Light, Benefit They’re Real mascara, SK-II masks, Benefit Erase Paste, Essie nail polish, Benefit Girl Meets Pearl, Trilogy Rosehip Oil and Benefit The Porefessional, among other things.

Stuff That I Bought 4th birthday prizes

In order to get your hands on these goodies, you need to pick your favourite Stuff That I Bought post from the last four years and tell me why. You can:

– Send an email to sendmestuff@stuffthatibought.com. Pop ‘Happy Birthday’ in the subject line

– Send me a tweet. Make sure you’re following @StufThatIBought, and include the hashtag #STIB4

– Leave a comment on this post. Make sure you leave your email address too!

If you want you can do all three, but you can only do each one once! Competition closes at 5pm next Wednesday (November 30) and my sister and I will judge the winners. If you want to get all legal on me, here are the Terms & Conditions.

A massive thank you to you, my very dear readers, for all your amazing comments, tweets and emails over the last four years. I blog because I love to write and share my opinion, and knowing that people appreciate it makes it that bit sweeter.

Just a word, I’m still tweaking the site so don’t be alarmed if things suddenly change on you! The beauty of the internet is that it’s never finished, right?

    multiple favourites!

I loved your post about the birdsnest clothes – the video was cute and I love the site and have perused it regularly since you posted (have not bought… must lose 5 more kilos before I treat myself!). New work wardrobe for next year has already been favourited from the site!!

The other one that I loved was the DIY macaroons… but it was really the whoopie pies that won me over. I have NEVER eaten a whoopie pie and am a little bit fascinated….

I have been obsessively hunting these down since you posted this but alas the world is against me making whoopie pies (probably good since I’m still trying to lose those 5 kgs…). Maybe woollies don’t stock them? *sad face

    ps. I need nailpolish! 😉

    Hi Elise,

    Happy (blog) Birthday!

One of my favourite posts was your ‘LOVE! Schwarzkopf Instant Volume Powder’ post from October 25 2011. I’m always trying to make my hair more ‘body-ful’ so this post certainly caught my attention. It sounded almost too good to be true – I probably wouldn’t have believed it if you hadn’t posted the video! After buying and trying it for myself, I’m loving this magic powder. I have no idea how it works but it’s having dramatic results! Thanks for the recommendation =)

Whoa Mama! Have you lost weight? Have you done something different to your hair? Oh, I know what it is! Check out your fancy schmancy new digs. Looks in-cred-ible lady. INCREDIBLE.

So, my favourite STIB post. Whooo, that’s a tough one – but I’d have to say your Birdsnest post. That was freakin’ gold. And of course, I scored you extra points for jumping on the couch. Hilaire. I’ve always wanted to do that. And slide around the house in black socks playing ‘Old Time Rock ‘n Roll’ like T-cruise in Risky Business. One day. Not sure I’d be brave enough to put it on the internetz though.

Soooo, you can’t have a birthday with out cake. That’s just uncivilised! When are we having cake? Or chocolate brownies with coconut ice cream? Is it too early for cake? It’s never too early!

    Happy Birthday!

    xx

Happy birthday! Love your new layout.

So you’ve come over to the dark side to your own domain 😉 I did the same thing 2 months ago. It has been fun yet incredibly frustrating.

Anyway. My favourite post was your birdsnest review: http://www.stuffthatibought.com/2011/02/

This site has transformed my clothes shopping life. I love how you can dress by size, shape and personal taste, you don’t have to have a perfect body to buy pretty clothes and there’s such a huge variety. I really appreciated that link.

    Happy Blog Birthday!

I’ve been following your blog for a little while now, maybe a few months after stumbling across it some how.

My fav post, and the one that I have referred back to over and over again is the GHD Curls – Horizontal vs Vertical from August 2, 2011.

I am a complete gumby when it comes to my GHD – I have burnt myself countless times and your post helped me get the curls in better shape than they were before!

    Happy blog birthday!!!
Two favourite posts – One was the recent video on products you had not gotten around to reviewing. I have an irrational fear of toners, especially supermarket toners, but your review of the Garnier one got my off my butt and made me pick it up. Boom, pimples gone!
Also loved your review of the Kiehls face cream cos you gave us the code to use on the website, scoring us a sweet Kiehls lipgloss!
Thank you for all your hard work! Keep it up, we all love your site so much! x

My favourite post is from July 14, 2011, titled ‘Fun fact #763 about me’!

I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 12, I got teased alot as I was one of the few that did wear glasses in my class. So, the minute I was old enough to wear contact lenses, I avoided wearing glasses like the plague! Problem was, I would wear it for close to 16 hours at a time (and sometimes went to bed with them)! I’ve lost count of how many times my eyes would be red and sore, and I would still push on with contacts! The only time you would catch me in glasses was in the privacy of my own home.

After seeing your post, it made wearing glasses seem almost cool! So, I though I would give glasses another shot and got myself a prescriptive pair. I took a deep breath and wore them to work one day, and was amaze at how many compliments I got for it!

So, thank you! Thank you for making glasses seem cool again. I know this blog is mostly about make up and clothes (which I do LOVE by the way!), but that one post changed my life (well, the life of my eyes at least)! While I still wear contact lenses, on days that my eyes are tired and sore, I’m not embarrass to wear my glasses out!

I have only recently discovered your site and I am hooked. I love the reviews you give, they are so helpful if you are umming and ahhring on whether to try something or not without knowing much about it. But your reviews give me the confidence to try the product and give it a go. My favourite blog so far was the ‘benefit There Real mascara. I love the before and after shot, it was amazing to see. I instantly went out and purchased one. And it is the best purchase i’ve made all year. I have small eyelashes and this mascara…there just isn’t any words to describe how good my lashes look.
Thank you so much, i can’t wait to read many more of your reviews.

Hap hap happy birthday to your blog. I am a newbie but have actually read quite a few of your blogs and find them very down to earth and realistic. I am following you on twitter as well, so I can keep up!!
I really enjoyed reading your article on the Smith Street Market body wash from Coles. I like the fact that its in my price range, budget is tight. They are great for xmas presents as well as the packaging is quite delightful!! Plum, cherry and pineapple are a great smell combination and they actually made me feel hungry. $5 dollars fro three, ridiculous!! have put a few aside for emergency presents, the ones that say they are not coming and then rock up 🙂

happy birthday blogger and many more!!! thanks for the chance.

    Happy Birthday STIB!!!

I cant believe your blog is 4 years old! Where was I the first 2 or so years. I must have only been reading for the last couple of years. Looks like i’ve got some catching up to do!!!

Fav post is def a super hard one so i’ll go with the post that has changed my life for the better, which is… The Batiste dry shampoo post!!
For years I had been rubbing the regular (non colour) dry shampoo into my roots at 5 something in the morning every second day before I leave for work, I swear sometimes I used to go to work looking like I had terrible dandruff. Then I discovered this baby! The black colour is perfect for my dark brown hair 🙂 I love the mini cans of this stuff too – perfect for work and travel.
Thanks for sharing this discovery E!

Happy 4th birthday! I just found you via Pink Diva Beauty, who has your page on her blogroll 🙂 I sent you an email as Kate, but that’s just the favourite post I’ve found so far, I’ve gotta go back and read more now.

I also loved your more recent post about the Philosophy-like shower gels you found at Coles. Coles moved out of our town unfortunately, but I will stalk their online store and see if I can find them. I love gourmet or foodie scented beauty products – especially moisturiser, body wash or lip balms. Lip balms are especially a weakness of mine 😉

It was February 27th 2011 and one of my Twitter peeps tweeted a link.

I clicked. And this is what I saw.

    http://www.stuffthatibought.com/2011/02/stuff-that-i-bought-does-birdsnest/

Immediately I thought ‘Who the hell is this? She’s fucking funny… and she’s a beauty blogger???’

I then started stalking you and realised that our blogs are a wee two months apart in age and that we had been quietly blogging alongside each other in our different niches for four years until our worlds collided.

Your blog is the first beauty blog that I ever subscribed to. You are hilarious, honest, gorgeous and you know all the things about all the make ups.

And that’s why I love your blog.

Happy Birthday sweet cheeks! I’m so glad we found each other.

    x
